The parish of North Hill has been in the Launceston registration district since the 1st of July 1837. North Hill and the parish of North Hill are located in the deanery and Hundred of East. It's boundaries stretch to the north by Lewannick, to the east by Lezant and Linkinhorne, and to the south by Linkinhorne and St Cleer, and to the west by Altarnun. North Hill (Northill) is a small and pleasing village within a large parish that is situated on the eastern edge of Bodmin Moor. The river Lynher divides the parish from east to west. The parish occupies a very picturesque and undulating area with farming country to the east. The stone used for the construction of Westminster Bridge was quarried from this district and the Trebartha estate was one of four farms that were mentioned in the Domesday Book and remained in the possession of the same family from 1066 until 1940, when it was subsequently sold to the Latham family. The hall was then used as an RAMC hospital during the Second World War, but it was eventually demolished in 1948. The principal villages of the parish are Bathpool, Coads Green, Congdons Shop, Churchtown, Illand (Yeiland), Middlewood, Newtown and Trebartha. .
